We all love the special little traditions for wedding receptions that have evolved over time. One of the sweetest and most poignant is the “generations dance,” which is sometimes called the “anniversary dance.”

The DJ begins by calling all married couples out on the floor to dance. After a short time he asks those married less than 24 hours to sit down. He then moves on to 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, and so on, until the longest-married couple is the only pair left on the dance floor.

The bride and groom may join them on the dance floor (or not, depending on your preferences) and present the couple with a small gift such as a flower arrangement at the end of the song.
